About Maxwell
I hold a Bachelor of Music in Popular Music with a focus on guitar, combining academic knowledge with over 12 years of practical experience. My journey spans many genres, including rock, classical, folk, and blues, which allows me to offer diverse and well-rounded lessons. I’m passionate about helping students of all ages—whether young beginners or adult learners—build both musical confidence and solid technical skills. My teaching style is patient and encouraging. I believe every student has a unique musical voice, and my job is to help you discover and develop yours. Lessons are tailored to your goals, whether you want to play for fun, perform live, or improve your technique. I focus on creating a strong foundation, covering everything from basic chords to advanced theory, always making sure the learning process is enjoyable. Over the years, I’ve seen students grow from hesitant beginners to confident performers, which is incredibly rewarding. My teaching focuses on helping each student grow at their own pace with personalised lessons. I combine traditional guitar techniques with modern tools like Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs), amp simulators, and metronome apps to make learning fun and effective. I emphasise ear training to help students recognise notes, chords, and rhythms, which is essential for all guitar styles. Performance coaching is a key part of my lessons. I prepare students to play confidently in front of others, whether in small groups or on bigger stages. Music theory is also included to give students a strong foundation and understanding of how music works. I tailor my lessons to suit different learning styles. For those who love exploring jazz or prefer a rebellious, energetic style, I support them fully to develop their unique sound and skills. Whether you are a beginner or looking to reach a professional level, I guide you every step of the way. Together, we work on technique, creativity, and musical expression. My goal is to help you enjoy playing guitar while building real skills that last a lifetime.
