About Genevieve
I’m a qualified English/History/TESOL/Religion teacher with a BA/BEd (Hons Class 1) from USYD. I'm also studying for my Masters in Education through UNSW, specialising in Curriculum and Assessment. My ultimate dream is to change the way we think about assessment in schools - destigmatising it and breaking away from the unnecessary pressure and stress... something that I'm fortunate enough to already do on a small-scale every day in my role as a tutor.
I've been tutoring for five years both privately and with companies and during this time, have supported over 100 students in English (from primary up to Extension 2), Ancient, Modern and Extension History, Music, Italian, and Studies of Religion. I am passionate about hyping my students up, and helping them be the best they can be - which of course, is different for everyone. I want my students to enjoy learning as much as I do, and to realise the many wonderful places that their knowledge can take them.
I have taught in a range of public, Catholic and independent schools and have experience teaching English, Modern History and Religion across Years 7-12.
I know the HSC English and Modern History syllabuses back to front. I’ve taught from them, I've completed HD level uni assignments on them and I recently completed my Honours thesis on the HSC English syllabus, which scored First Class. You are in safe hands with me.
My students have come from a range of schools including North Sydney Boys, Manly Selective, Sydney Grammar, Pymble Ladies College, Ravenswood, SHORE, Joeys, Loreto Normanhurst + Kirribilli, Abbotsleigh, Monte, Barker, Knox Grammar, Trinity Grammar, St George Girls... among many others.

As a teacher, I have worked extensively alongside experienced HSC teachers and HSC markers and thus have some great insider knowledge on what markers are really looking for. I know what it takes to achieve strong results, from both a student's and a teacher's perspective. As a tutor, I aim to help my students achieve, and exceed, their academic goals. From topping the class, to passing the next exam - my lessons use carefully tailored and differentiated teaching strategies to ensure my students achieve their best. No two students are the same, and my goal is to meet you where you're at, and help you to not only achieve but also exceed your goals.
My lessons are typically 1:1 however if you would like a small group lesson with some friends then we can arrange that as well!
I believe that tutoring is just as important for the parent as it is for the student and thus, I endeavour to keep parents informed every step of the way with regular updates and communication.
