About Gonzalo

I've achieved 13 grade 9s at GCSE (including Maths, Further Maths, Physics, and Chemistry), as well as 5 A*s at A-Level, in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry, and Spanish. I've consistently performed well in Olympiads, getting Gold in both the Physics and Chemistry Olympiads and reaching a Merit in the British Maths Olympiad, in my last year at school. I currently study Maths at Imperial College London, ranking 2nd in the QS World University Rankings, currently sitting on a high 2:1 and on track to achieve a 1st class degree at graduation.

I take learning very seriously, and it brings me a lot of gratification when I see my tutees succeed, so I do all I can to make sure that they do, including leaving my emails open to questions out-of-hours from the students if they'd like them answered before the session, and preparing my lessons thoroughly so the tutees can make the most of each session.

I love pushing myself in more disciplines that just the sciences, so I've studied many languages, including Classical Greek and Latin to GCSE grade 9, Spanish to A* A-Level, a DELF B2 in French, and I'm currently studying Japanese at university.

About the lesson

I achieved 5 A*s, including Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-Level, and currently study Maths at Imperial College London, achieving a high 2:1. I have ample experience teaching A-Level content, and have helped a previous tutee who was resitting their A-Levels go up an entire grade.

I always tailor my content to what the tutee needs, and prepare custom questions in advance, covering tricky edge cases and leading the tutee to organically reaching an insightful point that helps with their understanding of the topic. Typically, my sessions last between 1 and 1.5 hours, though I'm flexible to the requirements of my tutees. I run my sessions through Teams, sharing my screen and working through problems with my drawing tablet, and use Miro to collaborate with the tutee live on the same virtual whiteboard. Although I have more experience teaching A-Level content, I'm also happy to teach enthusiastic tutees studying for their GCSE exams, especially those doing Further Maths and those reaching for the highest marks!
