About Alishba
I am currently studying Computer Science and Statistics at the University of Toronto, one of Canada’s most competitive and highly-ranked research universities. My academic program involves rigorous coursework in areas such as algorithm design, data structures, probability, statistical inference, and computational problem solving. Through this training, I have gained strong analytical reasoning and technical skills, as well as a deep understanding of how to break down complex problems into manageable steps. Excelling in these challenging subjects has equipped me with both the knowledge and the teaching insight to support students effectively in math, statistics, and introductory programming. My experience with university-level work has also helped me develop strong study habits, discipline, and clear communication skills, which allow me to guide students toward consistent academic improvement.

My name is Alishba, and my goal as a tutor is to make learning clear, engaging, and confidence-building for every student. As a Computer Science and Statistics student at the University of Toronto, I focus on helping students truly understand concepts instead of just memorizing steps.
My teaching approach is student-centered and adapted to each learner’s pace and goals. I begin by identifying areas of strength and difficulty, then explain topics in simple, relatable ways. I use real-life examples, visual aids, and step-by-step breakdowns to make challenging concepts easier to grasp. For coding, I emphasize hands-on practice and problem-solving, so students learn by doing.
A typical lesson starts with a brief review of previous material, followed by an introduction to new concepts. I explain the topic clearly, work through examples with the student, and then guide them through practice questions. I encourage students to ask questions at any time and regularly check their understanding. Each session ends with a short summary and optional practice to reinforce learning.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my strong academic background in both computer science and statistics, combined with my ability to explain complex ideas in simple terms. I am patient, supportive, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. I also help students develop effective study habits and problem-solving strategies that benefit them beyond individual lessons.
My lessons are designed for elementary and middle school students in math, high school students in mathematics and statistics, and beginners in Python programming.
