About Maya
I’ve worked with elementary-aged students in reading, writing, English, and math, including students with dyslexia and specific learning disabilities.
I also grew up with tutors and was part of the IEP community, so I understand how frustrating or discouraging learning can sometimes feel. Because of that, I try to create a supportive and positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.
My goal is to help students build their skills while also helping them feel more confident and encouraged about learning.

* Typical lesson: We’ll usually start with a quick review, go over the new skill together, practice it step by step, and then let the student try it on their own.
* Subjects: Reading, writing, English, and elementary math.
* Reading & writing: Phonics, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and paragraphs.
* Math: Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, word problems, and other grade-level skills.
* What sets me apart: I have experience working with elementary-aged students, including students with dyslexia and specific learning disabilities (SLD). I understand that every child learns differently, so I adjust my teaching style and lessons based on what works best for each student.
