About Abbie
My name is Abbie Kerr and I am currently a student at the University of York. Outside of my degree I have a strong passion for bagpipes and have been playing and teaching for many years.
Over the past 10 years I have performed professionally at numerous events such as weddings, funerals, memorials, burns nights, new years parties, carnivals, village fetes and even the Birmingham Tattoo.
I have also preformed at many international events including the Berlin Tattoo, the Bremen Tattoo, the Moscow International Military Music Parade, the Arnhem Airborne Commemoration Weekend and many more.
As well as this I also have also competed professionally winning all categories in the Independent Schools’ Piping Competition as well as holding the title of English Under 18 Champion for four years in a row.
I have also played for many years with the Cambridgeshire Caledonian Pipe Band, where I discovered my passion for teaching, and gained valuable experience providing weekly tuition to players of all ages and abilities.

I am able to provide private tuition to aspiring bagpipers of any ability and specialise in making learning bagpipes fun and accessible to all. Lessons would cover basic finger technique, bagpipe theory, bagpipe maintenance and the development of a strong repertoire of tunes.
Tuition can be provided in person for students in or around York or over Skype / Zoom for those who would prefer online lessons. Lessons can be taught either during the day or in the evenings as well as on weekends in order to fit your availability.
