About Skylar
French is beautiful—but let’s be honest, it can also be confusing at first! That’s why I believe in teaching with a sense of humor and creativity. I have over 8 years of experience and a Bachelor of Education in French as a Second Language, and I specialize in helping complete beginners get started in a way that feels easy and fun. My classes are packed with games, short skits, and playful challenges. You might learn the verb être while pretending to be a superhero, or master vocabulary with color-coded flashcards that we turn into a mini-competition. We’ll use storytelling, songs, and even silly dialogues to make grammar feel natural—not intimidating. What makes my approach successful is the way I help students use French right away. From lesson one, you’ll be speaking—no matter how simple your sentences may be. I’ll guide you with gentle corrections and positive feedback, helping you gain confidence little by little. I don’t expect perfection; I expect participation. Together, we’ll laugh, learn, and build a strong foundation. By making language feel like a game instead of a chore, I’ll help you look forward to your lessons and surprise yourself with what you can do. You bring your curiosity—I’ll bring the fun!

Learning French should feel like play, not pressure. That’s the spirit behind every lesson I teach. Whether you’re a child, teen, or an adult who loves a youthful approach, my sessions are built to keep your curiosity alive and your confidence growing. I use laughter, creativity, and active participation to bring the language to life.
In my sessions, grammar is introduced through storytelling, funny examples, and relatable situations. We don’t memorize rules—we play with them. One week we might act out a skit in a bakery; another week, we might invent a goofy character who travels the world with only three verbs! By keeping things light and imaginative, the language becomes something you want to use, not just study.
I love using games—word bingo, charades, flashcard races, role-plays, and drawing challenges—to practice vocabulary, pronunciation, and sentence building. Music also plays a big part. Songs help with memory, rhythm helps with speaking, and dancing while we sing? Well, that’s just bonus fun.
Speaking is encouraged from the first session. You don’t need perfect grammar to start talking—you just need the space and support to try. That’s what I offer. I gently correct, cheer you on, and help you stretch your skills without fear of mistakes.
For young learners and even older ones who are young at heart, I also offer a lot of flexibility and encouragement. Whether we’re prepping for a trip, a school exam, or just building life skills, I adjust every lesson to your pace and style. And if you’re navigating a new country or culture, I can guide you through the basics with kindness and clarity.
