About Bridget
I am a dedicated piano tutor with 9 years of experience teaching high school and college students. Over the course of my tutoring career, I have successfully guided around 300 students, helping them build strong technical skills and a genuine appreciation for music. My teaching philosophy is built on three core principles: accountability, adaptation to learning styles, and clarity. I believe that setting clear, achievable goals and tracking progress regularly keeps students motivated and committed to their musical growth. Every student learns differently, so I take time to understand each individual's strengths and challenges, adjusting my methods to match their pace and style, whether that means more visual demonstration, repetition, or hands-on practice. Clarity is something I prioritize in every lesson, breaking down piano techniques, music theory, and note reading into simple, easy-to-follow steps so students build a solid foundation before moving to more advanced concepts. My lessons cover everything from proper hand posture and finger exercises to sight reading, rhythm training, and music theory fundamentals. As students progress, I also focus on expression, dynamics, and performance confidence, preparing them for exams, personal enjoyment, or advanced musical pursuits. My ultimate goal is to create a structured, supportive, and adaptive learning environment where every student feels confident and motivated to keep growing as a musician.

My teaching approach for Piano, Music Theory, and Sight Reading focuses on building strong fundamentals while giving each student a clear path to steady progress. With years of guiding students through their musical journey, I have shaped a methodology that keeps learning structured, personal, and rewarding.
Accountability is a core part of how I teach. I set clear, achievable goals with each student and track their progress regularly, so they always know what they are working toward and how far they have come. This keeps students committed and helps build good practice habits over time.
Adaptation to learning styles is something I take seriously in every lesson. Some students grasp concepts better through visual explanations, others through repetition or hands on practice. I observe how each student learns best and adjust my teaching methods accordingly, whether that means using more demonstration, simplified explanations, or extra practice exercises.
Clarity guides how I explain every concept. I break down piano techniques, music theory, and note reading into simple, easy to understand steps, avoiding unnecessary complexity so students can build a solid understanding before moving to more advanced material.
My lessons typically start with hand posture, finger exercises, and basic note reading, gradually progressing into rhythm practice and music theory fundamentals. I ensure students understand the reasoning behind techniques, not just how to perform them mechanically.
As students advance, I introduce sight reading practice to improve their ability to play new pieces confidently, along with ear training to strengthen their sense of pitch and rhythm. For those interested in performance, I also focus on expression, dynamics, and stage presence.
I tailor my teaching to match each student's personal goals, whether they are learning piano for enjoyment, working toward grade exams, or pursuing advanced musical training. My overall goal is to create a clear, accountable, and adaptive learning environment where every student can grow with confidence.
