My teaching method in the classroom is to always build off of students strengths, rather than focusing on their gaps/weaknesses.
When i have taught lessons in public schools the focus of the lesson always begins with a captivating idea or activity that gives student a personal connection to their teacher. Then I would focus on adapting the lesson to find path of least resistance from their previous knowledge to the new knowledge we are learning.
