About Frik
ENGLISH: I taught maths full time (6.5 years) before I became a scientist for 33 years. I obtained the following qualifications: In education a BSc(ed) and B.ED and in Engineering Science a PhD. Due to my full-time profession as scientist, I became a part-time Maths tutor for about 20 years. I went on early retirement and since 2020 am tutoring online Maths. I am focusing on Grades 9-12 as well as NTS 3-6. I am teaching learners those things (mathematical concepts) to think about when approaching a problem so that they can solve numerous problems using that skill. The basic Algebra skills are the most important TOOLS to know and to apply, eventually to be used also in Trigonometry, Geometry, other mathematical topics as well as in Science. AFRIKAANS: Ek het wiskunde voltyds gegee (6,5 jaar) voordat ek vir 33 jaar 'n wetenskaplike geword het. Ek het die volgende kwalifikasies behaal: In die onderwys 'n BSc(ed) en B.ED en in Ingenieurswetenskap 'n PhD. As gevolg van my voltydse beroep as wetenskaplike, het ek vir ongeveer 20 jaar 'n deeltydse Wiskunde tutor geword. Ek het op vroeë aftrede gegaan en sedert 2020 onderrig Wiskunde aanlyn. Ek fokus op Graad 9-12 sowel as NTS 3-6. Ek leer leerders daardie dinge (wiskundige konsepte) om oor na te dink wanneer hulle 'n probleem benader sodat hulle talle probleme kan oplos deur daardie vaardigheid te gebruik. Die basiese Algebra-vaardighede is die belangrikste GEREEDSKAP om te ken en toe te pas, om uiteindelik ook in Trigonometrie, Meetkunde, ander wiskundige onderwerpe sowel as in Wetenskap gebruik te word.

AFRIKAANS: Baie belangrik is dat jy 'n algehele konsep sal kry waarmee jy besig is in verband met ander wiskundige onderwerpe - waar en hoe pas onderwerpe aan mekaar. Daarbenewens sal jy belangrike vaardighede oor verskeie basiese wiskundige berekeninge verwerf. Daarom sal duidelike onderrig sowel as ter plaatse verduideliking en assessering 'n groot doelwit wees om seker te maak dat jy die wiskundige inhoud internaliseer. Sodra die sillabus, aantal/graad van leerder en afsnydatums (eksamendatums) bekend is, sal ek as tutor 'n volledige werkprogram vir die spesifieke graad kan saamstel. ENGLISH: Very important is that you will obtain an overall concept what you are busy with in relation to other mathematical topics - where and how are topics sticking together. In addition, you will obtain topical skills on several basic mathematical calculations. Therefore, clear tutoring as well as on-the-spot explanation and assessment will be a major goal to make sure you internalize the mathematical content. Once the syllabus, number/grade of learner and cut-off dates (examination dates) are known, I as tutor will be able to compile a complete work program for the specific grade.
