About Shafeel
I am a Kinesiology Graduate from the University of British Columbia. Upon graduation, I realized my inclination is toward public health, with an emphasis on using Statistics and mathematics, such as investigating disease spread, medication effectiveness, and finding factors that influence chronic disease and mental health. This got me into taking courses in upper-level Mathematics at UBC after graduation, which made me fall in love with math, especially being someone who struggled with it in high school. The experience of overcoming adversity with math makes me want to share it with other students! I plan to pursue a master's degree at UBC in Biostatistics in the future.

Due to my own previous struggles, I have heavily researched learning techniques that don't just apply to math, but also to learning overall, and intend on implementing them in my lessons and instilling them in my tutees. The techniques include spaced repetition, building from simple examples, and prioritizing abstraction.
