About Zakiyyah
I spent a year as a City Year academic coach and mentor then transitioned as a staffed teacher at Freedom Prep. Academy for 2 years as a History and Reading comprehension instructor. Currently, I am a vetted tutor on Varsity Tutors and teacher tutor on Tutored By Teachers. I have full knowledge on how to teach in-person and the virtual space.

I make my lessons culturally and developmentally relevant for the learner no matter the subject. I employ "gradual release" by guiding the student on the skill and concept and then allowing them to practice that skill or concept. My lessons are student-driven and allow for student feedback. What sets me a part from other tutors is that I have good control over managing the direction of the lesson while at the same time ensuring that the needs and desires of the students are met. I am a supportive, positive and motivating teacher and students are receptive to my teaching style. I am very approachable with a little sense of humor so lessons can be fun. No dry and boring lessons here. :)
