About Dr Oliver
I have a background in academia, university research and teaching; completing a Postdoc (Post-war child migration schemes, UK to Australia) with the University of Kent in collaboration with IICSA, a PhD Doctorate (CDA AHRC Studentship- Historical Geography), a Masters (AHRC Scholarship- Distinction) and Bachelor's degree (First Class Honours- received a total of five awards for Outstanding Academic Achievement) from Queen Mary, University of London. In that time, I have completed many in-depth research and writing projects, been involved with numerous multi-institutional collaborations; tutored, taught and lectured at university-level in the field of Human Geography.
I currently work freelance as a Sector Specialist Advisor (SSA) for the End Point Assessment training of Social Sciences & Humanities teachers, researchers, lecturers and tutors.
My PhD thesis entitled 'Health, Environment & the Institutional Care of Children in Late Victorian London' is available to view online via a quick Google search!
Outside of academia I've worked with public engagement partnerships, charities, museums, art and culture-led organisations. Alongside a team of academics working for the Ragged School Museum based in East London, I helped to create new content for galleries and exhibitions and produced learning resources and materials for the museum and its staff, visiting schools, academics and general visitors. I worked with the prestigious Royal Geographical Society-Institute of British Geographers (RGS-IBG) as their Enterprise & Collections Assistant conducting internal and external educational research projects based on the society’s renowned historical collection.
I am very passionate about different kinds of music – but I particularly have a liking for rock 'n' roll, psychedelia, garage rock and punk. I play guitar, write my own music and play in bands when I have the time. I am also a passionate and dedicated skateboarder!
I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate dated 9th April, 2022 and I am signed up to the DBS Update Service.

I am a Doctor of Historical Geography providing specialist support in the field of Social Sciences & Humanities assisting both undergraduate and postgraduate university students.
I provide guidance, assistance, advice and feedback on essays, coursework, dissertations/thesis and exams; reading and reading lists, planning, writing, editing, proofreading and concept-checking course essays and dissertations, support with exam preparation and revision and any general assistance and advice you may be needing with your writing and your studies.
Until recently I have been supplying teaching and tutoring support for universities, schools and colleges across London and the North-West of England and can provide an Enhanced DBS Certificate upon request.
