About Myles
I’m a Canadian writer-director based in Los Angeles and the founder of Harbour View Pictures, where I develop and produce feature films and series.
My work has been recognized at Academy-qualifying festivals worldwide, with award-winning projects across both short and feature formats. My debut feature Albatross received international recognition and distribution across major platforms, and its screenplay is held in the permanent collection of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Library.
Across my projects, I’ve raised over $1M USD in equity financing, giving me a strong understanding of how story, production, and market positioning intersect in the independent space. I approach each project with that full picture in mind - not only what works creatively, but what ultimately connects with audiences and moves forward in the industry.
My work focuses on character-driven storytelling with a strong visual identity, often blending elevated drama with elements of genre, and exploring queer stories alongside a broader range of voices and perspectives. I’m particularly interested in projects that are both artistically distinct and commercially viable.
In addition to my filmmaking work, I’ve taught and served on faculty at UCLA and Toronto Film School, and write editorially in the travel and lifestyle space.

My approach is direct, collaborative, and focused on translating your ideas into a script that works - and ultimately, into a film.
Most of my work is with scripts that are close, but not yet fully working.
Most writers reach a point where the project is close, but something isn’t fully landing - whether structure feels unclear, character motivations aren’t tracking, or the story lacks momentum. My role is to identify those gaps quickly and help shape the material into something clear, compelling, and executable.
Sessions are tailored to the stage of your project:
Early development (concept, theme, outline, treatment, pitch)
Draft work (structure, pacing, character clarity)
Rewrites and polishing
Editorial problem-solving for projects in post-production that aren’t fully working
Typically, I’ll review material in advance, then we’ll focus on big-picture structure and work through specific scenes or story beats in detail - building a clear plan for next steps. You’ll leave with actionable direction, not just general feedback.
As a produced filmmaker, I approach every project with production and distribution in mind - not just as a writer. That means thinking about how the story translates to performance, tone, and the final film, not only how it reads on the page.
This can also extend into post-production, where I work with filmmakers to identify story issues and explore solutions - from restructuring scenes to targeted rewrites or pickups.
I work with writers, filmmakers, and actors at all levels, from early development through to projects preparing for production, festivals, or market consideration.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
Myles has such a keen sense of structure and pacing. He brings a sophisticated view to story and is always honest and quick to challenge a choice that could be lazy or expositional. I know from his mentorship my writing has been greatly sharpened. He is also incredibly kind and has helped instill confidence in my writing abilities. I’m so thankful for working with him.
