About Cal
Hey! I’m Callum, I’ve worked from a range of sold-out funk and soul gigs to musical pits to jazz serenades at weddings and most importantly I’ve worked with a lot of younger people. I currently study music full time so just like you I am still learning and I’m still practising. I think because of this I have a very fresh and adaptable approach to teaching, taken from guitarists ranging from Mike Dawes all the way to Jason Sidwell. I aim to teach younger pupils or beginner to intermediate guitarists who want guitar to feel a little less intimidating and a little more fun just as I did as an early pupil.

Over my time of dense tuition at music school I’ve faced 7 guitar teachers and countless approaches, schemes and methods for beginning and developing guitar across a fair range in styles. I believe I can combine the most useful parts of these approaches depending on the pupils' aims and style. And unlike other tutors I‘m young and still actively learning every day—I very much relate to the struggles and frustrations of learning guitar. I aim to make learning guitar productive and, not importantly, enjoyable—especially for younger people. I specialise in Funk, Rock & Soul. However, I’ve had a good amount of experience with jazz and acoustic music and am happy to teach up to grade 6 Bass guitar as well.
