About Tara
I am a piano tutor with over 9 years of experience and hold a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano. Music has always been my passion, and I love composing and writing songs in addition to performing. My teaching style is fun, engaging, and fully personalised to meet the needs of each student. I work with learners of all levels, including school students, college students, adults, and professionals. Lessons focus on building strong foundations in chord theory, performance skills, sight-reading, and improvisation. I tailor exercises to each student’s goals, whether they are aiming for intermediate mastery, advanced proficiency, or professional-level performance. I have helped students grow in confidence, technical skill, and musical expression. My approach combines structured practice with creative exploration to make learning both effective and enjoyable. I emphasise understanding music deeply, not just playing notes on the page. Every lesson is designed to challenge, inspire, and encourage students to express themselves through the piano. I aim to unlock each student’s full musical potential while fostering a lifelong love for music. Together, we can start a rewarding musical journey and bring your piano skills to new heights.

My teaching approach focuses on building musical fluency step by step. I guide students to read music confidently while developing expressive playing and a deep understanding of musical structure. Lessons include rhythm drills, finger exercises, and song interpretation to strengthen technical and artistic skills. Each lesson is adapted to the student’s pace, goals, and interests. Beginners start with foundational techniques, while more advanced students refine expression, dynamics, and phrasing. I focus on helping students perform with confidence, whether in practice, recitals, or personal projects. For young or highly talented learners, I nurture natural ability while guiding them towards mastery. I emphasise consistency, patience, and structured practice to ensure steady progress. Creativity and musical intuition are encouraged alongside technical precision. I also integrate listening exercises and repertoire analysis to deepen understanding. My goal is to make learning enjoyable while helping students excel musically. Every student leaves lessons more skilled, confident, and passionate about playing the piano.
