About Ruby
Hello and welcome! I am a piano instructor with 9 years of teaching experience and a Licentiate of Music in Piano (LMusA). My teaching philosophy centres on active participation, expressive musicianship, and holistic learning, ensuring students grow both technically and creatively. I provide personalised instruction tailored to each learner’s goals, interests, and skill level. Lessons cover a balanced approach, including history, theory, technique, and creative expression, giving students a complete understanding of music. I have successfully guided learners from beginners discovering the piano for the first time to advanced students refining their artistry. Each session encourages curiosity, confidence, and a love for playing. I emphasise practical skills alongside musical interpretation, helping students perform with expression and poise. Creative exercises and improvisation are included to nurture individuality and artistic voice. I adapt lessons to different learning styles, making each experience engaging and effective. Mistakes are embraced as part of growth, fostering resilience and confidence. My aim is to cultivate both skill and passion in every student. I warmly invite learners of all levels to join me and explore the joy of piano in a supportive and inspiring environment.

I focus on making piano lessons enjoyable and meaningful for every student. Lessons start with building musicality, helping learners understand expression, dynamics, and phrasing. I create individualised lesson plans to match each student’s goals and interests. Flexibility in genres allows students to explore classical, jazz, pop, and more, keeping learning exciting. I emphasise confidence, encouraging students to perform, improvise, and share their music. Technique, sight-reading, and theory are taught in ways that support steady growth. Creative exploration is a key part of my approach, allowing students to compose and experiment freely. I guide learners through structured practice while keeping lessons inspiring and playful. Therapy seekers and aspiring composers receive focused guidance tailored to their personal journey. Mistakes are treated as learning opportunities, building resilience and skill. I aim to nurture both technical ability and a love for music. Students are encouraged to express themselves and develop their unique musical voice.
