About Alfonso
I've been teaching, playing guitar and performing, including singing, for over 40 years. Having experience in teaching a variety of genres of music, I offer theory and practical lessons to meet your specific goals. I especially like the Blues, Rock, Jazz and Folk.

My teaching method follows both book(s) and a hands-on approach. As a resource I use various beginning/intermediate-level books as a guide. To reinforce what is being taught, I apply various ways to assess a student’s progress through learning songs and techniques. As the lessons progress, I make a determination as to what path will be the most beneficial and of value for my students, without losing sight of the student’s original goals.
But more importantly, I want the lessons to be fun. It’s been my experience that all theory and application lead to a boring experience.

Perfect! My kid really likes the teacher, so that seals the deal. Haha. He also has a lot of guitars, so we could check for the right size for my son. I loved his detailed and fun teaching methods and the systematic way they present lessons. I'm so excited to see him playing soon!

Alfonso is a terrific teacher and has been very helpful in getting me started. I am a complete beginner and Alfonso has been wonderful in answering my questions and helping me pick out my first guitar.
His lessons are fun and packed with things to practice on during the week. After each lesson he sends a detailed email reviewing what we covered and what to practice on.
He is very responsive to questions via email and offers helpful advice and encouragement.
I would highly recommend Alfonso!Alf is a wonderful instructor with amazing passion. Our son really enjoys lessons and now my husband wants to start taking lessons too. Thank you Alf!!
I am a total beginner with no previous experience whatsoever on playing the guitar and I am very happy with Alf's method of teaching. He is super friendly and when you have mistakes he always try to look for the positive side in those mistakes to keep you motivated.
