About Tala

Hi! I'm a recent UC Berkeley graduate with a bachelor's degree in Applied Mathematics, with a focus on finance. I love helping students turn math from something intimidating into something they actually understand.

I've worked with students ranging from middle school through college, and in college I served as a Supplemental Instructor for Calculus II. I've also spent years tutoring classmates and friends in mathematics.

I can help with:
- Algebra and Geometry
- Precalculus
- Calculus 1 & 2
- High-school and college mathematics
- Exam preparation, homework, and difficult concepts
- Quantitative/finance-related coursework

About the lesson

My approach is patient and personalized. Rather than simply showing you how to solve one problem, I focus on helping you understand why the method works so that you can recognize and solve similar problems independently. I understand some concepts can be difficult to retain and will provide different ways of thinking about them that will make the learning experience less daunting and will make the student want to get better and better.

If you're struggling with a particular class, preparing for an exam, or simply want to become more confident in math, I'm happy to build lessons around exactly what you need. Math can be incredibly fun and engaging if it's done right, and I'll do my best to show that aspect of the subject through engaging lessons and practice problems as well as notes if needed.

The first 30-minute lesson is free, so we can meet, discuss your goals, and figure out how I can best help. I'm happy to answer any questions, so please feel free to reach out!
