About Shanna
I graduated from UC Berkeley with a statistics degree. During high school, I aced all my math exams from SAT Math to AP Calculus and AP Statistics. However, I struggled with my math too until I found a suitable way to study and a good strategy to take exams. I want to be able to help students build confidence in math and be able to comfortably do their best in their math exams. I have tutored students from different grade levels in various subjects in high school from pre-algebra to advanced courses such as AP Calculus, Economics, and Statistics. Currently, I serve as a math afterschool teacher in a comprehensive program, dedicating 20 hours per week to tutoring K-8 students. This role allows me to engage students in mathematical concepts and provide targeted support. Before that, I was a UX designer in the tech industry for two years. Given my diverse background, I bring multi-faceted perspectives and create dynamic ways to engage with students.

My teaching style is encouraging and patient, fostering engagement and building student confidence through positive, supportive interactions.
I personalize and tailor my lesson plan to each student's needs and goals.
A typical lesson could begin with a concept explanation, an example problem walkthrough, and we will work on several problems together and review.
My lessons are for students from elementary school to high school, who might have struggled in math or want to achieve better grades in standardized exam.
