About Laura
I am a UC Berkeley graduate with a degree in Journalism and Political Economy with a concentration in Econometrics. I have strong experience in economics, statistics, and analytical writing. I am currently studying for the LSAT and GRE, and scored a 35 on the ACT, so I am qualified to assist in test preparation as well. I would be happy to work with any student to help them progress toward their current or future academic goals.

I take a clear, structured, and student-centered approach to tutoring, focusing on building strong conceptual understanding before moving into problem-solving or real-world applications. Depending on the content, I aim to teach students concrete study tools to encourage future growth beyond these tutoring lessons. I understand that focusing, studying, and feeling academically fulfilled can be difficult for some, so I aim to make abstract ideas more intuitive and to encourage active participation, thereby helping students gain confidence in explaining concepts independently.
Lessons are, of course, tailored to each student’s goals. A typical session includes a brief check-in, targeted review of key concepts, guided practice, and time for independent work with feedback. What sets me apart is my ability to explain technical material in an accessible, organized way while reinforcing long-term understanding rather than quick fixes or short-term memorization. I am open to working with middle school and high school students.
