About Joan
I grew up in Malaysia and learned Mandarin in school for 12 years. I then took Mandarin and Korean as electives in my Bachelor's of Psychological Science degree and am now working part-time. I find that I enjoy teaching a lot and thought I'd do this in my free time!

I have a syllabus to follow but also enjoy a more conversational approach as most of my students are looking to improve in their daily communication. I am also a big advocate of using videos as a teaching modality. I find that students benefit from a relaxing learning approach; however, I still believe in exams and will drop a pop quiz here and there, as well as a final exam.
