About Fiona
My interest in biology began with a fascination for life and its diverse processes. I pursued a Master’s in Molecular Biology, gaining expertise in genetics, cell function, and molecular techniques. Over the past 7 years, I have guided students at multiple levels, helping them understand biology conceptually, think critically, and approach experiments with confidence and care.
I believe biology is best taught through clear explanations, structured steps, and relatable examples. My teaching approach focuses on connecting theory with observable phenomena, guiding learners through complex concepts gradually. I encourage hands-on practice, critical questioning, and reflection to strengthen understanding. Each student receives tailored guidance to ensure steady progress and growing confidence.
Beyond teaching, I stay engaged in biology through literature, research discussions, and lab projects. This enriches my lessons and helps me share relevant, real-world applications. Teaching biology is deeply rewarding because I see students transform curiosity into knowledge, develop analytical skills, and gain confidence. Helping learners discover the fascinating intricacies of life and achieve academic success is one of my greatest joys.

Biology becomes engaging when students connect theoretical concepts to the living world around them. In my lessons, I teach cell biology, genetics, physiology, ecology, and molecular techniques using simple explanations and clear examples. I emphasise understanding concepts rather than memorising facts, breaking each topic into manageable steps. Practical examples from nature, experiments, and illustrations help learners visualise complex systems. My lessons are structured to create a supportive, interactive environment, allowing students to ask questions freely and develop curiosity and confidence in biological studies.
I tailor lessons to each student’s level. Beginners learn foundational principles, such as cell structure, basic genetics, and simple organismal functions. Intermediate learners explore biochemistry, DNA/RNA processes, physiology, and ecological systems. Advanced students focus on experimental design, molecular biology techniques, data analysis, and research applications. I integrate exercises, guided discussions, and problem-solving to ensure knowledge retention and growth. This approach ensures learners develop both conceptual understanding and practical competence.
Studying biology also strengthens observation, analytical thinking, and experimental skills. Students learn to approach problems methodically, reason critically, and appreciate life systems at multiple scales. They become more confident in labs, research, and academics. My goal is to make biology clear, relevant, and inspiring so learners feel capable of understanding complex systems and applying knowledge effectively in academics, research, or future careers.
