About Cheryl
I am a current biology major on the genetics and biotechnology subtrack at the University of Iowa. I started college at 16 and have been tutoring my peers and other college students in lower level collegiate courses. I have experience particularly in teaching chemistry, biology, and pre-calculus mathematics. I have extensive experience writing and editing English papers, essays, and abstracts. I have also taken multiple Spanish classes and tutored classmates at the collegiate level. I also have worked as a peer mentor/tutor with high school students in a scientific research program in which I worked to help develop research papers, posters, and oral presentations.

My teaching method is based on learning where the gaps are in my student's understanding. I always begin by asking questions to gain their level of understanding, then present material to fill in those gaps. I believe that learning is best done through repetition and active information intake. Simply reading or listening to a lecture does not help someone learn, and because of this I find repeated quizzing on material, diagrams, and other forms of visual learning that draw out questions all aid in a student's understanding.

I will charge $15 per hour for any high school student, and $20 per hour for collegiate level tutoring.
