About Isla
I earned a Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and have 6 years teaching biology to K–12 students, including 4 years of online one-to-one tutoring. I’ve assisted students preparing for AP Biology and introductory college courses, and I prioritize lab thinking, clear explanations, and the confidence to ask smart questions.

Biology makes sense when you see the connections: cells to tissues, genes to traits, tiny microbes to whole ecosystems. I teach biology as an interconnected story rather than a list of facts. We explore how structure supports function, how systems cooperate, and why certain biological principles matter in everyday life — from breathing and digestion to the basics of biotechnology. Lessons are conversational and example-driven: I use clear analogies, simple diagrams, and short hands-on suggestions (safe, at-home observations) to make abstract ideas concrete. My goal is to develop conceptual clarity so students can reason through exam questions and pursue college biology with genuine understanding.
