About Kathleen

Hi, I’m Kathleen, a biomedical engineering graduate with experience as a teaching assistant for first-year engineering students and a strong academic background in math, science, and language. My interdisciplinary education has equipped me with both analytical and communication skills, allowing me to break down complex topics clearly and effectively.

About the lesson

I'm an engineering graduate with a strong foundation in math, science, and language, and a passion for helping students grow confident in their academic abilities. I’ve worked as a teaching assistant for introductory biomedical engineering courses and have experience tutoring a range of subjects including English, mathematics, and foreign languages.

My approach to tutoring is rooted in clarity, patience, and connection. I believe students learn best when material is broken down into understandable parts and tied to real-world examples. I focus on building conceptual understanding first, then reinforcing it with tailored practice and feedback. Every session is student-driven. I adapt my teaching style to match the learner's needs, whether that means visual explanations, problem-based learning, or conversational drills.

A typical lesson starts by identifying any confusion or gaps, reviewing prior material briefly, and then working through current topics with interactive examples. I close each session with a quick recap and guidance on what to focus on before our next meeting.

What sets me apart is my interdisciplinary background and empathetic teaching style. With experience in both STEM and the humanities, I bring a flexible and holistic perspective that helps students see the bigger picture and connect ideas across subjects. I also create a welcoming environment where mistakes are part of learning, not something to be embarrassed about.

My lessons are ideal for high school and early college students, especially those navigating challenging coursework in introductory engineering, algebra, calculus, writing, or a second language. Whether you're preparing for an exam, building your skills from the ground up, or just trying to keep up with class, I’m here to help you succeed with confidence.
