About Sam
Six years ago I picked up playing the guitar as a hobby, and it had a dramatic impact on my future. Had I not, I would not have found my love for writing and creating music, for which I dedicated the last three years of my education to studying at Bournemouth University. Over this time I have learnt a range of skills and applications for playing the guitar, having university projects on live performance, studio recording, and most importantly, having been surrounded by many talented musicians. Were it not for my surroundings, I would not have developed the same motivation to learn nor reached my current skill level. Therefore, I hope to do the same for any student wishing to play guitar and tailor my teaching to them, to inspire exploration of the instrument and to have as much fun with it as possible.

Techniques and methodology will be tailored to the students’ needs. For example, we can focus on practical learning and exercises throughout lessons with my live feedback, or if you would like to gain more knowledge in a shorter period, I can do more talking and provide examples, delve into sheet music analysis, and so on. I will set the practical learning as homework to apply what we have learnt to your playing between lessons. The typical length of a lesson will be 30 minutes; however, lesson length can go up to and beyond an hour if you would like to ask extra questions or take a deeper look into an area of struggle. My lessons are for any level, music style, or age. I particularly enjoy introducing students to music theory and improvisation if this is something you would like to pick up. I suggest that students at grade 4 and below will get the most out of these lessons, as this is where I have the majority of my teaching experience.
