About John
I am a working brass session musician - recording on French horn, trumpet, and trombone. I have appeared on several video game soundtracks as a soloist, most notably Mortal Kombat 11. I have taught in multiple settings, both in private lessons and as a band director in the state of Texas. My degrees are from West Texas A&M University - B.M. in Music Composition and Music Education, and M.A. in Music Composition.

When teaching individual students, I like to take into account two main things - the student's current playing level, and their goals and dedication. I don't believe in forcing students on a path they don't want to follow. Rather I take their goals into account and maximize fundamentals-based instruction to reach that goal as completely as possible. I also aim to teach the student how to effectively teach themselves, so that they can know how to approach challenges they encounter outside of lessons.
