About Ross
I am a dedicated piano tutor committed to helping students of all ages learn effectively and confidently. I hold Master’s degrees in Music, providing strong knowledge in theory, technique, and performance. I have taught beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students preparing for exams, recitals, and competitions. My lessons are student-centred, personalised, and designed to balance creativity with structured learning. I use real-life examples and case studies to help students relate rhythm, melody, and harmony to practical situations. Motivation is central, and I encourage students to set goals, monitor progress, and celebrate milestones.
Problem-solving is integrated into lessons to develop analytical thinking and independence. I emphasise integrity, creating a safe, honest, and supportive learning environment. I am flexible, adapting lessons to each student’s pace, learning style, and personal objectives. Alongside piano, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and composition. I teach piano with a student-centred methodology that combines creativity, structure, and practical learning. I use real-life examples and case studies to help students connect musical concepts to everyday experiences, such as comparing rhythm to walking or breathing, and harmony to teamwork or blending colours. I focus on motivation, encouraging students to set achievable goals, track progress, and celebrate every success, which builds confidence and a positive attitude towards practice. Problem-solving is an integral part of my lessons, guiding students to analyse challenges, explore different approaches, and develop independent thinking skills that strengthen both their technical ability and musical interpretation.
I teach with integrity, creating an honest, respectful, and supportive environment where students feel safe to experiment, ask questions, and learn from mistakes. My teaching is highly flexible, with lessons adapted to each student’s pace, learning style, skill level, and objectives, whether preparing for exams, performances, or learning for personal enjoyment. In addition to piano, I teach music theory, sight-reading, ear training, and basic composition, providing a holistic understanding of music. Lessons are available online or in-person for all ages, from young beginners to adults seeking advanced instruction.
