About Giancarlo
Buongiorno a tutti! My name is Giancarlo and I am from Rome. I have been teaching Italian language and culture since 2003 to people of all ages, from teenagers upwards. I have lived in Scotland for more than twenty years, during which time I have taught in various environments including secondary schools, colleges and language institutes. I also provide private lessons, both online and in person. Currently I teach Italian at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. Before moving to Scotland, I attained a degree in Italian language and history at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” where I also gained the qualifications required to teach those subjects in public schools. Between 2007 and 2010, at the Italian Consulate in Edinburgh, I completed a further teacher training course and taught Italian there for several years.

Salve a tutti! Ready to immerse yourself in a fantastic journey into the language and the culture of Italy? I offer one to one or group classes at any level, from beginners to advanced and for all ages from teenagers to adults. It is essential for me to adapt my lessons to every single student, according to their interests and needs. In my classes I am always focused on balancing the different aspects of teaching including grammar, speaking, reading and listening. The teaching materials include grammar books, conversation books, listening materials with audio tracks and videos. In online classes, I will use a word document as a whiteboard and then I will either email the notes to my students or I will upload it on Google Drive, depending on preferences. I also provide classes on different aspects of the Italian culture such as history, music, cinema and other subjects within popular culture. One of the most important points in my teaching style is learning and having fun at the same time, because I am convinced that it is much easier to learn while you are enjoying it. My timetable is quite flexible and potentially I am available every day, including Saturday and Sunday.

Perfect! I find Giancarlo to be a very good tutor. He is patient and knowledgeable, with many years’ experience teaching languages.
