About Destinee
Hello! My name is Destinee Boone, and currently, I am doing Business Administration and Marketing. Along with studying, I have developed a passion for teaching mathematics and English.
With a firm grounding in business principles and marketing strategies, I can bring something unique to my teaching methods. My studies give me a great analytical skill that enables me to separate a math problem in the easiest understandable pieces. Furthermore, my marketing studies enable me to improve my communication skills and get the point across to the students and to involve them in their learning.
I have experience with education that ranges over several years and engages in the privilege of helping students improve in their mathematics and English abilities. I truly do understand that each and every student learns differently, so I engage in personalization of the session so students get what they need. My main objective is to create an environment that is friendly, supportive, and non-threatening, so the students become encouraged to ask questions and take risks in their learning.
During my sessions, I try to make learning fun and relevant. I believe that with the appropriate guide and support, every student has the potential to achieve academic success and develop a love for learning. Whether your goal is to improve your grades, prepare for the exam, or better your understanding of mathematics and English, I am here to help you reach your goals.

Lesson Breakdown:
1. Introduction (5 minutes)
Welcome and Warm-up:
Greet the student and engage in a brief conversation to make them comfortable.
Quick icebreaker: Ask the student to share their favorite book or movie and why they like it.
2. Reading and Comprehension (15 minutes)
Activity:
Introduce a short story or a passage from a book suitable for the student's grade level.
Share the document on screen and read aloud together, taking turns or the tutor reading the first half and the student reading the second half.
Discussion:
Ask comprehension questions to ensure understanding:
What is the main idea of the passage?
Who are the main characters, and what are their roles?
What is the setting of the story?
Are there any unfamiliar words? Discuss their meanings and usage.
3. Vocabulary Building (10 minutes)
Activity:
Present a list of 5-10 new vocabulary words from the passage.
Discuss the meanings and use each word in a sentence.
Create a quick vocabulary quiz using a tool like Quizlet or Google Forms.
4. Grammar and Writing Skills (15 minutes)
Activity:
Review a specific grammar topic relevant to the student's needs (e.g., sentence structure, subject-verb agreement, punctuation).
Provide examples and engage the student in identifying and correcting errors in sample sentences.
Writing Exercise:
Prompt: "Imagine you are the main character in the passage we read. Write a short continuation of the story."
Set a timer for 10 minutes and allow the student to write. Offer guidance and encouragement as needed.
5. Review and Feedback (10 minutes)
Activity:
Read the student's writing together and provide constructive feedback.
Highlight strengths and areas for improvement in both writing and grammar.
Encourage the student to ask questions and discuss any difficulties they faced.
6. Conclusion (5 minutes)
Wrap-up:
Summarize key points covered in the lesson.
