About Delfa

I’m a California-licensed Professional Civil Engineer with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University. I have over 10 years of professional engineering experience and a strong background in mathematics.

I also have approximately 4–5 years of experience tutoring high school and college students in math. I’ve always enjoyed teaching and helping students understand subjects that initially seem difficult. During college, I earned Dean’s List honors and received A grades in several engineering and mathematics-related courses.

I’m especially interested in helping engineering students and graduates prepare for the FE Civil exam. Having studied engineering myself, I understand how challenging some of these topics can be. I enjoy explaining concepts in a simple, practical way and helping students build confidence as they improve their problem-solving skills.

About the lesson

I offer online math tutoring for students preparing for the FE Civil exam, as well as high school and college students who need help with algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, and calculus.

For FE Civil students, I focus on the mathematics section of the exam, including algebra, analytic geometry, trigonometry, calculus, and probability and statistics. We can work through FE-style practice problems together, review how to use the NCEES Reference Handbook, and practice calculator shortcuts to help save time during the exam.

My teaching style is pretty straightforward. I like to break down difficult problems into smaller steps and explain why we’re using a particular method. I also encourage students to work through problems with me so I can see where they’re getting stuck.

Each lesson is based on what you need help with, whether that’s reviewing a topic from the beginning, preparing for an upcoming exam, or getting more comfortable solving problems on your own. My goal is for you to leave each session understanding the material better and feeling more confident.
