About Toby
Hello! I'm Toby, a 24-year-old Cambridge graduate and current PhD student. I have a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages (First Class with Distinction), and I specialised in French and Spanish, both of which I speak fluently. I have lived in both France and Chile. I also have an MPhil in Film and Screen Studies and am currently studying for a PhD in the same subject.
I am enthusiastic, engaging, and experienced tutor and small group teacher of French and Spanish, happy to give lessons in person or online. I prefer tutoring enthusiastic and able students to help them to go the extra mile. I would particularly be interested in supporting students about to go to university to study languages, those who have missed out on A Level teaching and would like to keep their languages ticking over, or advanced adult learners. I would also be very happy to help current university languages students to improve and/or practise. I particularly enjoy conversation classes and target-language teaching as I think they are the most useful way to learn.
I am also experienced in giving guidance and support with Oxbridge applications, and have attended 3 Cambridge colleges so can give excellent college choice guidance.
