About Danny

I am a tenured Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor and Cambridge graduate with over 15 years of tutoring experience, holding a BA, MPhil, PhD and Postdoctoral Fellowship from the University of Cambridge. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, I also completed the Academic Professional Apprenticeship and PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, both with Distinction. These qualifications reflect both my depth of subject expertise and my commitment to excellent teaching. As an evolutionary anthropologist, experienced university lecturer and former high school mathematics teacher, I have taught and supervised students at both school and university level, helping hundreds of learners to improve their grades, develop confidence and reach their academic goals. I tutor Biology, Maths and Anthropology as well as providing expert support in academic writing, essay and dissertation proofreading, research skills and guidance for university and Oxbridge applications. My approach is friendly, supportive and tailored to each student’s needs. Whether you want to master exam technique, strengthen essay writing, overcome procrastination or refine research projects, I can provide strategies that deliver rapid and lasting improvement. With experience both teaching and assessing at elite universities, I understand exactly what examiners are looking for in high-quality academic work. Beyond academia, I am also a keen ultra-endurance athlete and hold several official world records in adventure and endurance challenges. I bring the same motivation, resilience and focus to tutoring that I apply to training, supporting my students to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. Get in touch for a chat about your goals and how I can help you succeed.

About the lesson

My teaching style is friendly, enthusiastic and supportive. I aim to create a positive and enjoyable learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions, develop their skills and engage fully with the subject. Every lesson is tailored to the student’s individual goals - whether preparing for exams, improving academic writing, or building confidence in a challenging topic. Typical lessons last 45-60 minutes, though longer sessions can be arranged. I provide constructive feedback and clear take-away points for independent study, ensuring steady progress between sessions.

Danny’s passion and knowledge made a huge difference to my Undergraduate dissertation - without his guidance I wouldn’t have achieved a First Class Honours.
