About Jonny
I know what it’s like to feel that learning the piano is too difficult.
Like many kids, I took lessons growing up —but the fun just wasn’t there. By 16, I gave up.
But the love of music remained. After leaving school, I decided to relearn piano—this time, on my own terms. I found a teacher who suited me, passed my Grade 8, and then discovered my real passion: jazz harmony and improvisation. This new approach unlocked a freedom in my playing that I hadn’t experienced before.
Since then, my journey has taken me into professional performance. I’ve toured with a theatre troupe, playing a mix of jazz and classical for sold-out audiences, and even had the honor of accompanying my best friend as they walked down the aisle (no pressure!).
I bring all of this experience into my teaching, tailoring lessons to fit each student’s unique learning style. Everyone’s musical journey is different, but with patience and the right guidance, anyone can develop real skill and confidence at the piano.

I teach a variety of styles, tailoring lessons to your interests and goals. My background spans multiple genres:
- Classical: I studied music in depth at Cambridge University and completed the full ABRSM Grade exams.
- Jazz: I’m currently completing a Master's in jazz performance at Guildhall School of Music, and am happy to help you work on your jazz playing.
- Rock & Pop: As a producer, I understand the piano techniques used in contemporary music.
- World Music: I’ve studied Brazilian music in Rio de Janeiro—if you’re interested, we can explore Latin piano styles together!
I welcome students of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Lessons take place at my flat in North London, using my weighted Clavinova keyboard, and can be either 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on your preference.
