About Athene
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Cambridge, a passionate biologist and hold a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology from King's College London in addition to my BSc in Psychology with Neuroscience.
I have a large amount of experience, having provided tutoring in biology and psychology from GCSE to degree level for 8 years, while also running tutorials and workshops with Biomedical Science, Natural Science, Medicine and Dentistry students as part of their taught degrees at King's College London and the University of Cambridge.
I currently support a wide range of students ranging from A-Level to PhD level, in topics as diverse as Biology, Psychology, Neuroscience, Cell and Developmental Biology and Data Analysis. As well as teaching content, I often help students who require assignment-based coaching to accelerate their critical thinking and academic writing skills.
I care about making science accessible to everyone and have also previously mentored A-Level students from disadvantaged backgrounds with their university applications and personal statements via The Social Mobility Foundation.
I work with students of all abilities. My enthusiasm for science and psychology and approachable nature mean that I am able to put students at ease while quickly identify where they need help the most. I can help to break down complex topics and develop strong exam technique which allows students to feel confident in their knowledge and abilities. Undergraduate and postgraduate students will find that their critical thinking and academic writing skills is accelerated as a result of working with me.

Athene has been a great tutor and has increased my confidence in biology both within the curriculum and outside the curriculum as well
I would highly recommend Athene as a tutor as she is very reliable and helpful. She was able to explain things in a way which made them easy to understand. With her support I was able to improve my grades and achieve a 1st in my undergraduate degree.
I came to Athene for help with some of my postgraduate assignments in Psychology. She was quick to identify where I needed guidance and we were able to come up with a work plan which made things a lot less daunting. She also really helped me develop my ideas and think critically about the material. I was initially aiming for a 2:1 grade but was able to achieve a first so I was incredibly happy. Athene is a very committed and friendly tutor and I'm very grateful for her help.
