About Laurene

Solving a complex problem feels like sketching a map in the dark, where each line must align perfectly to reach the destination. Having earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from MIT, I discovered that the difference between frustration and success lies in the ability to check one's own work.

My experience spans 31 students, covering linear algebra and competition math prep while emphasizing deep problem-solving strategies. Whether we are navigating coordinate geometry or the nuances of statistics and probability, I maintain a patient focus on the underlying mechanics. By refining your mental math and mensuration skills, we build a foundation that prepares you for the rigor of SAT or ACT math prep. I look forward to seeing the academic progress we will make together.

About the lesson

Teaching students to think independently requires more than just showing them the steps, as true mastery begins when the teacher stops talking. My philosophy centers on the idea that students are often failed by the syllabus rather than their own capacity for logic. Because I hold a degree from MIT, I emphasize the mathematical fluency required to tackle difficult coordinate geometry or statistics and probability challenges. We utilize mental math and specific problem solving strategies to ensure you are ready for competition math prep.

My approach to linear algebra and mensuration focuses on internalizing the process so you can verify your results without hesitation. By prioritizing the development of your own internal checkpoint system, we strip away the anxiety that often accompanies SAT or ACT math prep.
