About Ejumevwo Kelvin
Hi, I’m Kelvin, an MSc-qualified Mathematics teacher with 14+ years of teaching experience, currently teaching at an international school.
I’ve worked with students from the UK, US, Canada, Australia, UAE, and beyond, helping them strengthen their mathematical foundations, improve problem-solving skills, and prepare confidently for important exams.
Many students can follow examples in class but struggle when questions are presented differently, require several steps, or test genuine understanding. That is the gap I help students close.
My approach goes beyond completing worksheets. I help students understand why the mathematics works, recognize how to approach unfamiliar problems, and build the confidence and independence to solve problems on their own.
My main areas of expertise are GCSE, IGCSE, A-Level, IB, Digital SAT, and ACT Mathematics, with additional support available for AP Mathematics, university mathematics, and advanced school mathematics.
Student Results
Students I have worked with have achieved results such as:
• Digital SAT Math improvements of up to 200 points
• GCSE students progressing from Foundation to Higher Tier and achieving Grades 8–9
• A-Level students achieving A and A* grades
Results vary according to each student's starting point, preparation time, consistency, and other factors.

My Teaching Approach
My teaching style is patient, structured, diagnostic, and results-focused.
Every student starts from a different point, so I first identify what you understand, where your gaps are, and what you need to achieve. I then build lessons around those findings.
My typical lesson structure:
1. Diagnose
Identify strengths, weaknesses, misconceptions, and goals.
2. Explain
Break difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps and connect them to prior knowledge.
3. Practice
Move from guided examples to increasingly independent problem-solving.
4. Correct
Analyze mistakes, understand why they happened, and develop strategies to avoid repeating them.
5. Apply
Use unfamiliar and exam-style questions to develop flexible problem-solving.
6. Plan
Set clear priorities for independent practice and the next lesson.
I emphasize deep understanding over memorization and introduce multiple solution strategies when they help students become more flexible and confident.
The long-term goal is not dependence on a tutor. It is to help students become independent, confident mathematical thinkers.
Specialist Exam Support
Digital SAT
We combine mathematical understanding with efficient exam strategies, focusing on:
• Advanced Desmos techniques
• Algebra and equations
• Functions and graphs
• Regression and data analysis
• Geometry and trigonometry
• Problem-solving and data analysis
• Question recognition
• Strategic answer testing
• Time management
GCSE & IGCSE
Lessons are tailored to your exam board, specification, current level, and target grade.
We work on:
• Understanding command words
• Interpreting unfamiliar questions
• Showing sufficient working
• Maximizing method marks
• Recognizing common question patterns
• Avoiding recurring mistakes
• Exam timing and strategy
For students targeting Grades 8–9, we place particular emphasis on multi-step reasoning, algebraic fluency, problem-solving, and unfamiliar applications.
A-Level Mathematics
For students targeting A/A* grades, we develop the mathematical fluency and reasoning required for advanced problems, including:
• Algebra and functions
• Trigonometry
• Differentiation and integration
• Sequences and series
• Proof
• Mechanics
• Statistics
• Mathematical modelling
• Multi-step problem-solving
• Exam technique and method marks
Interactive Learning
Lessons are highly interactive, not simply tutor-led explanations.
I use a digital whiteboard for clear, step-by-step explanations and worked solutions, together with:
Desmos — especially powerful for Digital SAT strategies, functions, graphs, equations, regression, and data analysis.
GeoGebra — useful for dynamic geometry, transformations, trigonometry, circle theorems, functions, and visualizing mathematical relationships.
I use these tools when they genuinely improve understanding and problem-solving.
What You Can Expect
You can expect:
Clear, step-by-step explanations
Lessons adapted to your current level
Targeted exam-style practice
Immediate feedback and error correction
Strategies for unfamiliar questions
Strong conceptual understanding
Exam-board-specific preparation
Clear priorities for independent practice
Progress toward measurable academic goals
What Happens in Your Trial Lesson?
Your trial lesson is more than an introductory conversation. It is designed to give you clarity, value, and a practical plan.
1. We discuss your goal, your target grade or score, upcoming exams, current challenges, and priorities.
2. We identify your gaps. Through discussion and targeted questions, we identify the areas currently limiting your progress.
3. You experience my teaching. We work through a genuine mathematics problem or topic so you can experience my approach firsthand.
4. We create your roadmap. I outline the key areas to focus on, the order we should address them, and the type of practice that will support your progress.
You should leave the trial lesson knowing where you are, what needs improvement, and what we can do about it.
Who I Work With
I support students who want to:
• Improve their mathematical foundations
• Raise their GCSE or IGCSE grade
• Move from Foundation to Higher Tier
• Target GCSE Grades 8–9
• Achieve an A or A* at A-Level
• Improve IB Mathematics performance
• Increase their Digital SAT or ACT Math score
• Prepare for AP Mathematics
• Strengthen algebra, geometry, trigonometry, or calculus
• Prepare for university mathematics
• Build confidence with challenging and unfamiliar problems
• Become more independent in mathematics
I also work with homeschoolers and adult learners who want structured, personalized mathematics support.
Ready to Make Real Progress in Mathematics?
Whether your goal is a higher SAT score, GCSE Grade 8–9, an A/A* at A-Level, stronger IB performance, AP success, or greater confidence with mathematics, the first step is understanding exactly where you are and what needs to change.
With 14+ years of teaching experience, an MSc in Applied Mathematics, current international school teaching experience, and experience supporting students internationally, I can help you make difficult mathematics much more manageable.
Book a trial lesson, and let’s identify your starting point, your priorities, and the clearest path toward your goal.

Kelvin is a fantastic tutor. He is positive, energetic, and supportive. He explains concepts clearly and is very patient with his students. He is very knowledgeable and has a great ability to connect with and encourage students to succeed. My daughter really enjoys working with him, and he helps her so much! I would highly recommend Kelvin as a math tutor!
I have really struggled with basic mathematics over the last few years. Kelvin has helped me build my confidence in the basics and provided me with examples applicable to real-life situations. He has taken me through problems step-by-step and helped me gain a good understanding of the methods needed to solve them. He is very patient and understanding of what I would like to achieve from my sessions with him. I would highly recommend him as a tutor!
Kelvin is a great Algebra tutor! My son started out not understanding anything he was learning in class and after working with him for 5 lessons, he is now caught up with his class and understands it perfectly. He feels much more confident and doesn't dread Algebra now. He will continue to work with Kelvin as his teaching style mixed with the one-on-one really helps him.
We couldn't be happier with Kelvin. If I could I would give him 6 stars! He has great knowledge of a wide range of math topics. Most importantly he makes math fun. Our son says his positive energy is infectious; he now looks forward to his classes… even during the summer holidays. He's done a fantastic job getting our son ready for the 9th grade. We will definitely use him during the school year to continue to give him a boost.
