About Kimberly
Hello, my name is Kimberly. Currently, I am an intervention specialist at Pittsburgh Mt. Oliver Intermediate Unit. In this position, I provide explicit, systematic, and research-based instruction to learners who qualify for learning support. I am also certified in the Wilson Reading System, which allows me to provide effective instruction to students with dyslexia or other reading disabilities. Before my current role, I was a second-grade teacher at a local elementary school for eight years. During that time, I earned my graduate degree as a reading specialist. I love learning as well as teaching. I have the most experience teaching students in preschool through fourth grade. I enjoy teaching math and science, but my passions are teaching English language arts and social studies. When teaching language arts, I use a structured literacy approach. When teaching math, I enjoy helping students develop number sense and learn how to think and talk about various math processes. I also prefer to use a lot of hands-on activities and games to keep my young learners engaged and focused. When I am not teaching, I enjoy volunteering in the community, reading, and taking courses to enhance my knowledge about teaching. I would love to know how I can help your child achieve educational goals and develop a love for learning.
