About Joanna
Hi! I'm Joanna, a certified English teacher with 10+ years of classroom experience and 8 years as a professional legal writer and researcher. For more than a decade, my career has centered on one thing: helping people learn, grow, and succeed.
As a middle school English teacher, I've worked with students of all ability levels to strengthen reading comprehension, writing, grammar, and critical thinking. My legal background has further developed my skills in research, persuasive writing, editing, and analytical reasoning, allowing me to help students build the strong communication skills they need for school, standardized tests, college, and beyond.

A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson begins with a brief review of previous material and any questions the student has. From there, we'll focus on one or two targeted learning objectives through direct instruction, guided practice, and independent application. We'll finish by reviewing key takeaways, discussing any remaining challenges, and setting goals for the next session. As students progress, lessons evolve to reflect their growing confidence and changing needs.

I'm a Maryland State certified English teacher with 10+ years of classroom experience, and more than 8 years of professional writing and research experience.
