It's hard to learn in an environment when you feel like your instructor does not care about you. I aim to maintain my professionalism throughout your learning experience. I believe the youth hold the power to the future and you should be treated as such. My approach is always student-centered, listening to students' needs and their experience in education. I provide supportive and structured instruction. I begin by identifying each student's strengths, challenges, and learning style, then tailor supports to meet their individual needs. I use scaffolding, differentiation tools, exemplars, visual supports, discussion prompting, and real-world connections to make content accessible and engaging.
A typical lesson includes a brief review of prior learning, re-teaching lessons/content, and providing direct instruction on a targeted skill or concept. I continuously monitor progress and adjust instruction and support to ensure understanding and growth. This works effectively if an IEP is shared, or a brief summary of the student's management needs.
What sets me apart is my background as an Artist and Educator. As a certified Special Education Teacher with over 8 years of experience supporting diverse learners, including students with Autism, ADHD, and other learning differences. I combine NY state standards, high academic expectations, and critical thought with personalized support to help students where they're at. I also have an Arts background which I implement and carry with me across all decisions.
My lessons are designed for students in high school seeking support in Global History, U.S. History, English Language Arts, study skills, reading, writing, project-based learning, and Arts. I welcome students of all ability levels and create an inclusive environment where they feel success.

I also provide sliding scale and split payment for parents who may be financially struggling. I will not ask for personal financial information, only honesty. If this aligns with you, reach out to me personally and we can coordinate something! Please be truthful as you may be taking up space for a parent/student who truly needs it!
July-August Remote only! In-person is always in a public space never at home. For example Library, Cafe, etc.
