About Sarah
I'm a teaching artist, which means I'm a certified teacher in two states as well as a professional artist with my own studio practices. I earned my BFA in Studio Art from Jacksonville University and have been teaching art for 12 years in the US, with a summer learning and teaching in Florence, Italy. I have taught students ages 3 through 19 and led painting experiences for fellow teachers. My favorite studio practices include painting, photography, graphic design, and fiber arts. I love sharing my knowledge with others and can't wait to share it with you.

As an art tutor, my approach is student-centered and process-oriented, focusing on fostering creativity, technical skill, and personal expression. I integrate hands-on practice with conceptual discussions, encouraging students to explore their unique artistic voice while mastering foundational techniques. Whether it’s guiding students through complex color theory, hand-building clay techniques, or advanced mixed-media practices, I tailor my teaching to meet individual learning styles. I also use visual demonstrations, constructive feedback, and reflective activities to help students grow both technically and conceptually. Lessons typically cover an introduction to the topic/method, a demonstration, hands-on application/practice, and reflection or critique. These lessons are great for elementary through high school levels and aspiring artists.
