About Matthew
I am a current undergraduate at the University of Kentucky, majoring in chemical engineering, and work as a paid peer tutor there. I have been the recipient of a number of awards for academic excellence, to include the UK Leads Scholarship and the AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineering) Freshman of the Year award. I have been a peer tutor for several years, beginning in middle school, often volunteering to do so without pay. During this time, I have experienced a great deal of success with students, many of them proudly telling me of marked improvements in their exam scores following our tutoring sessions.
Given the opportunity, it would be a privilege to utilize the skills I have built over years of education and tutoring to try and help you achieve similar results!

My style of teaching is one of completeness - we'll tackle the specific problems you'd like to solve today, and while we do it, we'll delve into the concepts related to the problem and where they come from. We'll learn to engage in what is known as deep-level thinking - that is, tying the problems and concepts we discuss back to other familiar problems and concepts, building a densely interconnected web of understanding. This style is tried and true, as I have discovered throughout several years as a peer tutor at various levels and in various disciplines, and is the very same approach I use as a semi-professional tutor at the University of Kentucky.
