About Allison
I am a chemistry Ph. D. candidate at the University of Florida. I have a BS in Chemistry and I have been tutoring chemistry for the last five years. I have worked with both high school and college students and am a past general chemistry TA. I have worked with many students of various abilities, including students with disabilities, and these students have been successful and achieved the grades that they desired for the class. Many of the students that I have worked with previously have grown to really enjoy and understand chemistry.

I have worked with high school and college level chemistry students, and I am willing to meet you where you are at in chemistry. If you are willing to work to learn it, I will match that effort to help you learn it. When I work with students I prefer to work in smaller groups, so that I can better address your specific concerns and areas where you want help. In the past, I have helped work through homework problems, or explain unclear concepts. After having been a TA for three years and tutoring for five, I have learned that there are many ways to present and explain a concept, and some ways of explaining things make more sense than others to some people. I am flexible with how I present information and will work to do it in a way that maximizes your ability to understand the material. I have also gained a series of tips and tricks that help to keep easily confused information straight. As a tutor I want it to be enjoyable, but I want you to learn also, so I typically have a focused but relaxed tutoring environment. I want people to be able to ask questions and really understand what they are learning. It is really important to me that there is open communication and students can say when they do not understand a concept. So, I try to create an environment where this can happen easily.
