About Fatimah
I’m a Chemistry graduate who enjoys helping students feel more confident in a subject that can often feel overwhelming at first. What I like about chemistry is that, once you break it down, it actually follows clear patterns and logic – and I enjoy helping students see that for themselves rather than just memorising content.
What makes me stand out is my focus on explaining things in a simple, step-by-step way and adapting to each student. From my experience as a teaching assistant, I’ve worked with students who learn in different ways and at different speeds, so I’m used to adjusting how I explain things until it clicks.

In my lessons, I focus on making chemistry feel clear and manageable rather than overwhelming. I usually start by understanding what the student finds difficult and what they’re aiming for, then break topics down step by step before applying them to exam questions.
I prepare by reviewing the topic in advance and, where possible, using the student’s own classwork or past paper questions so the lesson is really relevant to them. During the session, I explain concepts in a simple way, use examples, and ask questions to check understanding rather than just talking through content.
A big focus is exam technique, as many students understand the material but lose marks on how they answer questions. We’ll practise structuring answers and using mark schemes so they know exactly what examiners are looking for.
I track progress by revisiting topics, looking at improvements in practice questions, and building confidence over time. I also encourage students to ask questions freely and see mistakes as part of learning, as confidence plays a big role in improving.
