About Xin Yi
As a Chinese Singaporean, I grew up in a multicultural background speaking both Chinese & English in my everyday life. Knowing the similarities and differences of these languages, I am able to help you bridge the gap between the two.
Academically, my proficiency in Chinese language and culture has also earned me a Bicultural Studies Scholarship, and I further focused on East Asia in my undergraduate degree. (Am currently in the UK to pursue my passion in art).
To get good at a language, I do believe you need to use it, so I hope to create a comfortable space in our lessons for you to play with the language. I'm also keen to introduce you to parts of Chinese culture I enjoy, so that you don't just learn about the language, but also the larger world it sits in.

We will work off a textbook for the lesson structure - one that matches your current level. Based on your learning goals, we will practice Chinese speaking, writing and listening in class, and I will supplement your learning by sharing nuances & cultural content (entertainment, food, anything!) that you will find interesting.
If you are a beginner, we can set some goals together and work towards that. For more advanced learners, am happy to do a simple test of your current level before planning the classes.
Should you wish to get HSK certification, we can tailor the lessons towards that and bring in some exam preparation skills as well.
Lessons can be 1-1.5h long, depending on what works best for you!
