About Amir
My name is Amir Houshangi, and I am a Classical Guitar Instructor with a Doctorate in Music. I have dedicated my life to the study and teaching of music, specializing in classical guitar. My journey in music began in Tehran, where I was born and raised. I earned my initial degrees in music from the University of the Arts, followed by advanced studies at the University of Toronto and the Royal Northern College of Music, culminating in a Doctorate from the University of Montreal. With years of experience teaching at both the university level and in private settings, I have honed a teaching style that is both rigorous and nurturing. My students can expect a structured, yet flexible learning environment where their individual needs and goals are prioritized. I emphasize the importance of technique, musicality, and historical context, using time-tested methods and materials. My professional background is not just rooted in academia, but also in real-world performance and collaboration with renowned musicians. This blend of academic rigor and practical experience ensures that my students receive a well-rounded education in classical guitar.
