About Orlando
I have been studying Latin and Greek for many years, so I know how daunting they can first appear. However, studying them - and later teaching them - has given me a good number of tricks up my sleeve in order to make the learning easier and more enjoyable.
I always say it is better to guess at an answer than give no answer, as mistakes can easily be learned from, and people often know more than they think. I am here to guide students through the challenges of the languages in a calm, non-judgemental, and helpful way.

The most important aspect in any class, but I think especially languages (even dead ones), is conversation - not necessarily chatting in Latin or Greek, but learning out loud. I strongly encourage discussion and interaction in class: a normal lesson would involve talking through and translating sentences or passages out loud, or discussing grammar points together, rather than rote learning in silence or a monologue from me without any student input.
I have taught a good deal over the last few years and during the pandemic when online learning was so important, especially for students doing in-school exams, but I also welcome beginners with even a passing interest in either language. I most commonly use Latin/Greek to GCSE by John Taylor as a textbook, but can happily adapt to any other books that students prefer. I hope you get in touch!
