About Aakifah

Hi, I’m Aakifah. I have three years of experience tutoring through Kumon and teaching one-on-one, including working closely with my younger brothers. I genuinely enjoy working with students and helping them understand material in a way that actually makes sense. I like when concepts click for me, and I want my students to feel that same clarity and confidence.
I am currently on the pre-medical track with a strong interest in neuroscience. Outside of school and tutoring, I enjoy baking, reading, watching basketball, and playing sports, especially volleyball. I tutor basic math through pre-calculus and college-level general chemistry.

About the lesson

- I have 3+ years of experience teaching students through Kumon and through one-on-one instruction at home.
- A typical lesson begins with me reviewing core concepts and identifying any gaps in understanding. I then guide students through examples. I reinforce understanding through practice problems that demonstrate multiple scenarios.
- What sets me apart as a tutor is my patience and adaptability. Teaching my younger brothers at home also has taught me how to explain concepts in multiple ways and stay calm when students feel frustrated. I focus on creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.
- My lessons are for students seeking help with basic math through calculus.
