About Selena

I am a teacher, a student, a mentor, a scientist and an actress who has been in leadership positions for more than 6 years. I began my undergraduate studies in 2016 and have completed research projects and internships at several institutions around the country, including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and City College of San Francisco. My studies have been in the sciences, mathematics, and theatre arts performance.

About the lesson

I offer lessons to all age ranges and folks from different walks of life, up until early postsecondary education. My teaching method is primarily based on interactive lectures and inquiry-based lessons. I base my classes around relevant topics, applicable questions, and step-by-step solutions. My best teachers have been empaths who are able to see things through my perspective and show me where I may be having difficulties -- I do my best to approach every student with the same level of compassion that has helped me thrive.

Selena is an incredible person and exceptional teacher! I've known Selena for many years and they are kind, patient, relatable and have a mind perfect for teaching. Selena is a problem solver. When a problem presents itself, you can expect it to be met with care, flexibility and attention to detail. Selena's ability to break down, contextualize and re-contextualize information is a rare and invaluable skill that will make all the difference in your lessons. I can't recommend Selena highly enough!

My rates vary based on the education level of the student (cheaper for grade-school through high-school compared to college-level), distance traveled to student, socioeconomics of students household (ask me about sliding-scale options). I have a courtesy 24-hr cancellation policy for a full refund for scheduled lesson(s).
